Special Electrical Tests

  • Partial Discharges to Generators, Cables, Transformers with the objective to diagnose the state of insulation of the windings. Through the resolved phase analysis, is possible to locate faults in that insulation.
  • HI-POT tests, that allow to diagnose the state of the insulation of cables and power equipment, subjecting them to high voltage and verifying that the insulation supports the voltage levels for which it was designed.
  • Thermography and temperature analysis, for diagnosis of potential problems (predictive maintenance), able to detect in substations and/or power plants: loose connections, insulation failure, overload, presence of harmonics in the neutral, unbalanced loads, among others.
  • VLF tests to cables to verify that the insulation of the cables do not present drawbacks such as manufacturing impurities, humidity, pores, air bubbles, among others, because when applying the voltage leakage currents begin to circulate, that when moving transversally in the conductor it is drilled until it fails. Likewise, the junctions, couplings and terminals are examined.
This test must be done with the conductors lying down and ready to energize, applying a voltage signal at low frequency (0.1 Hz) for one hour, with a voltage equal to the operated conductor and not on the reel or the cellar. Once the service is installed and according to the recommendation of the standard IEEE 400 – 2001, a new verification test must be carried out 3 years later.

To carry out these services we have our own equipment to execute the electrical tests, which are properly calibrated, being the main: CPC100, TD1, MPD600.
